CLOUD
This tale of a real life encounter with a homeless person yields a surprising conclusion whilst highlighting the extreme challenges both physical and mental faced by people living on the street. The aural backdrop to the spoken words introduces elements of techno music in the final stanzas.
CALLING ME
The figure of a child, glimpsed briefly in the shadows during a visit to a stately home with a long history, was the inspiration for this poem. Was it real or an echo of a long forgotten soul?
FREE
Mental health is a frequent theme in pieces by Words2Music, and this example offers an ultimately uplifting message of hope, in the possibility of escape from the "prison walls" of anxiety.
SILENT CHILD OF WAR
The first poem written as a Words2Music composition, exploring the reality of children caught up in the horrors of war, rendering them unable to speak of the inhuman acts witnessed and the destruction of all they knew. Promoted by the Bright Kids Charity who do amazing work for disabled children in the Ukraine caught up in war.
KISS
Alice draws on her experience working as a performer in care homes to provide an extremely touching portrayal of how singing and music can find a way of opening up a channel of communication even with those people who may find it difficult to respond. A very moving piece which includes an introduction by Alice.
GHOST ORCHID
Some plants survive and even thrive in the harshest of conditions. This tale of a Ghost Orchid is multilayered in its metaphorical message of resilience in the face of challenges such as war, but equally inspiring when applied to other difficulties.
I LOOK AT THE SKY
Inspired by a true gentleman of yesteryear, this homage to his spirit evokes both a sentimental emotion due to his passing along with a celebration of the qualities of his existence whose impact and presence continues to be felt by all those who knew him.
CALENDAR GIRL
With a title inspired by the film "Calendar Girls", this real life humourous anecdote of a meticulously planned romantic encounter will not fail to amuse both with the scene-setting first half (mischievous dogs and cats included) and with the "And What Happened Next?" in the second half.
